Enrollment exams in the Children’s Art School
Enrollment exams in the Children’s Art School this year will take place on June 14 and 15. (Exams for vacant positions in other grades will take place at the same time.)
Documents can be submitted by 12 June.
Enrollment exams for the 5th grade are as follows:
- Drawing (2 hours, with graphite pencil, A3 size paper).
- Sketching (1 hour, graphite or charcoal, A3).
- Painting (3 hours, watercolors, brushes, A3).
- Composition (figural painting, 3 hours, watercolors, A3).
Enrollment exams in the Janis Rozentals Art Highschool
Enrollment exams for the first year class will take place from the 28th to 30th of June.
Exam program:
DRAWING – head plaster cast.
Time: 5 study hours (40 minutes x 5).
Surface type and size: Paper, A2.
Media: Graphite pencil.
Requirements: Composition, structural build, light and shade.
SKETCHING – A human figure (a model in various movements).
Time: 1 study hour (40 minutes).
Surface type: Sketching paper.
Media: Charcoal, soft pencil (6B).
Requirements: Composition, linear rendering of human body proportions and character.
PAINTING
1) A still life (2-3 items).
Time: 4 study hours (40 minutes x 4).
Surface type and size: Primed cardboard, A3 size.
Media: Oil or acrylic paints.
Requirements: Composition, rendering proportions of items and tonality (primary relationships between light and shade).
2) A still life in a room (elements of a still life, augmented by folds of fabric, etc.).
Time: 3 study hours (40 minutes x 3).
Surface type and size: primed cardboard, A2 size.
Media: Oil or acrylic paints.
Requirements: Composition, rendering and balancing planes of colors, relationships between cold – hot and dark – light colors.
COMPOSITION
A figurative composition with multiple figures that take up 2/3 of the painting area; the theme will be specified on the day of exam.
Time: 5 study hours.
Surface type and size: Paper A2.
Media: Oil or acrylic paints.
Requirements: Clear compositional structure, clarity of images, expressive solution in colors and light and shade.
